Journal #18
18. If you could choose two things to change about our high school campus, what would they be and why? Castle Park High School should have uniforms implemented in their educational system. One of the major impacts the implement of school uniforms would bring to the school is a decrease on social discrimination and bullying because everyone would have the same clothes and thus, the discrimination and the social pressure of being accepted in school by your friends or by a certain group of people would decrease. I have come to witness this types of discrimination towards a beloved friend of mine. "Popular kids" started bullying her just because she had what they called "stupid clothes". That is why I believe, implementing school uniforms would abet the discriminated people and bullying towards them would decrease as well. Even thought they are students who do not like the idea of uniforms, they will eventually get accustom to wearing them everyday.
Another thing I would change about my school, Castle Park High, would be to implement a diverse selection of languages students could be able to take. Languages form an important aspect in our life and I believe this will help students both learn about other cultures as well as respect them and have an understanding on their traditions. I highly believe in the importance of getting to know ther cultures and a superior way to do this at schools is by implementing a vast selection of languages they can be able to take as their foreign language required to graduate (credits).
